Today we mourn the loss of the king of pop. Michael Jackson. I would like to extend my best wishes to Mr. Jackson’s family. Sure, he had his ups and downs, but he still had some good music. Farewell Michael Jackson.

iPhone 3.0

// June 18th, 2009 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

The new iPhone 3.0 firmware has been out for a day now, yet I have had it for 5. I have already found a way to use Internet Tethering on the device, yet I am still working on MMS. So far, Internet Tethering on the iPhone 3g is rather nice. It would be faster of course if I were in a 3g area but that is going to have to wait until I get home from North Carolina on Saturday. The new spotlight is amazingly cool. One thing I miss though happened to be an easter egg. If you tapped the dock while the page was moving, it would freeze the page. I am also looking forward to getting the iPhone 3G S within the month. I will write another blog post about that when I get the phone. There are a few small new features in the iPhone 3.0 Firmware such as information about calls in the recent calls menu which shows the location and duration of the call. Thats about all I have to say about the new iPhone 3.0 firmware.

I broke my leg

// March 17th, 2009 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

Ok, so I was rough housing and some idiot thought it would be a good idea to come over and tackle us. I ended up with a broken tibia bone (Shin Bone) and have a cast up to my hip. It is quite painful when I try to move but luckily I have pain medicine to keep me out of too much pain. The person who tackled us is named Ryan McClure. I am most likely going to sue him for pain and suffering. The pain is excruciating but it is not as bad as i thought a broken bone would be. The bone should heal within 6-8 weeks, hopefully before camp because it would be a bummer to miss the last year of camp with my class. I’m going to an orthopedic specialist on the 24th of this month. I should be back in school by the end of this week or the beginning of the next.

The new tab interface sucks

Hard to drag around the screen

Ugly new buttons

Can maximise the window when trying to close a tab

Apple put no thought into this

Apple stole this idea from Google Crome (Which Sucks)

Cover flow bookmarks eats CPU like a bear and honey

Messes up Apple Mail

Well, this morning I wake up to find I have a sore thought, cough, and a stomach that feels like its doing the Cha-Cha. I didn’t go to school today because my parents felt it would be best if I stayed home. Any suggestions to get over this..?

Impressions of Windows 7 Beta 1

// January 18th, 2009 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

I recently installed Windows 7 Beta 1 on one of my laptops (the Toshiba a215). I have had it on the computer for about 4 days and I have already found it better than Vista. One of the first things I will mention is that Microsoft has incorporated a few new features into aero, one of the features is if you shake the window you have open, all other windows will minimize, another feature is if you drag the window to the top of your screen it will snap into full screen, to get the window out of full screen just pull down on it. The final feature I have noticed is the ability to snap windows to the side. To do this, drag a window to the side of your screen and it will snap to the side taking half of the screen, this feature is good for comparison shopping. A new feature in Windows 7 and one of my personal favorites is the new task bar. The new task bar allows you to dock applications on to it for easier access. I have noticed that ease of networking is prevalent in Windows 7, I was able to connect to my home network with not much trouble at all. This is just a beta and it is already better than Windows Vista. The speed of the operating system is amazing counting the fact that it has all of the effects of aero to handle. I was able to open Firefox in about 3 seconds in Windows 7 compared to the 10 it took in Windows XP.

ZTecNet

// January 2nd, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Uncategorized

During my time off of school I spent a lot of time on IRC. One of the networks I spent a lot of time on was ZTecNet. ZTecNet is a very good network and I would recommend it to most everyone. The network usually averages about 30 people in the main channel per day. I was once staff there and I hosted two servers. I recently chose to step down due to personal issues but I am still an active part of the community and love to chat there. You can visit ZTecNet IRC at irc.ZTecNet.net.

Area51IRC is a new project I started recently with a friend of mine, Sam Ferry. The network is currently in development and is looking pretty stable, we have many servers linked to the network such as; Gamelan, Icarus, Chicago (server), Grimlock, and Zodiac. If you would like to stop by and check us out, we are open 24/7 at irc.Area51IRC.org.

Winter Break

// January 2nd, 2009 // 1 Comment » // Uncategorized

As winter break comes to a close and many go back to school on monday, I though I would write a blog post about how my Winter Break went. As for the christmas aspect, I got a Plantronics Headset for Skype, some Starbucks double shots, A dinosaur plant, and of corse, clothes. Most of my break has been spent in front of my two computer monitors doing mostly nothing besides managing the multiple servers I am in charge of, consuming un herd of amounts of caffeine. On new years I stayed up until 6:00 AM on Skype with Sam Ferry and Vass. I rarely went outside during this break due to the bitter cold and the fact that everyone that I would normally hang around with were vacationing in Florida. I have gotten much done in the time that I have had off, starting on cleaning my room, setting up my Trinity and Pteropus servers, and naming my computers (iMac = Carthage, MBP = Helios, Toshiba Laptop = Gamelan). My fuel during the break was poptarts, english muffins, pizza, Mountain Dew, and Starbucks Coffee.
